Experimenting with Different Styles
This project focused on searching for a new style, through different representations of myself. Who I am, my hobbies, my strengths, and my weaknesses were all explored in this project, in search of new ways of illustrating.
This piece I rendered this to be pretty blocky, similar to the way that light reflects off of vehicles, but more extreme. The vehicle is the main focus in this piece, because I believe that my hobbies are who I am. I explored similarly to this on a few other pieces in this collection as well.
This piece also focuses on one of my interests, as a symbolism to who I am. I almost never use line in my illustrations, so this time I wanted to incorporate line into my regular "painterly" style.
This piece is pretty similar subject matter to the other cat one above, however the style is entirely different and the subject matter size has been flipped. While the cat is still the focus, here it is portrayed as small and cute.
The concept for this piece was sketched in another project, but I felt it was a much more fitting piece for this, so I finished it for this project. It is my interpretation of my experience with imposter syndrome. This is a multimedia piece using every medium that I found at the time I was not experienced in, really forcing me to push past my comfort zone and try something new.
This one is quite different than the others, I illustrated myself with use of only a continuous line with a brush pen. The subject matter is myself illustrating on my computer, with things like my hair, and my hunch when I work on my projects exaggerated in the illustration.
I often enjoy working in charcoal, but the majority of my charcoal art is done in a semi-realism or realist style. Hatch shading is something I have never done with charcoal before, and so I ended up trying it here.
